In April 2006 issue of Health Magazine, there was an article on assessing your eating style . It was interesting to know how people eat.Â You can read the complete article (see below), but here are some of the tips in summary:
- Before you eat, ask: “Do I feel hungry?”. If yes, then eat. But, if not, don’t kill your boredome with eating.
- Make simple subsitution in your diet. Eat an orange instead of an orange juice from concentrate.Â
- Reverse the Meat-to-Potatoes ratio. Instead of steak with brocolli stalk as garnish, make vegetable and whole grains the centerpiece, and use meat, fish, or poultry as a side dish.
- Go lean. Choose low-fat frozen yogurt instead of ice cream; Baked potatoes instead of french fries; Order a sanwich of lean roast beef instead of pastrami p or choose turkey or chicken breast.
- Avoid Multi-Tasking. Turn off TV and phone on mealtime.
- Eat Calmly and quietly. Don’t discuss work, taxes, and day-to-day hassles at the dinner table.
